Last month, I shared a blog about how I wanted to start photographing for FUN again. I won’t hash it all out again here… you can click HERE to read more about that.
Today’s blog is simple, short, and sweet, but I wanted to share some of my “just for fun” photos I took last month. They aren’t anything amazing or mind-blowing or revolutionary, but I did take them for no other reason than just to have fun. I had no guidelines, no clients, no real purpose for the photos other than to just allow myself to photograph something just for me.
I decided that I just wanted to take some macro shots of some flower petals. I had peonies in mind for this project. When I couldn’t find any peonies, I had to come up with a plan B. What’s funny is that I ended up going with some carnations, which happen to be my least favorite flower. Haha! Something about them, I just don’t love. So when I saw some carnations, my initial response was to pass them by, but instead, I stopped and thought how funny would that be if I made carnations my first “photograph just for fun” project? Then I thought “Why not?” So I grabbed them.
I ended up realizing that carnations really aren’t so bad. They are actually quite lovely when you think about it. All those layers of soft petals. This bunch of flowers, in particular, had pretty purple along the edges of the petals. I think I may actually like carnations now! That’s something I never thought I would say! Haha!
Anyways, I spent a few minutes just photographing these flowers for no reason at all and it was so relaxing. I think I could get used to this ;-)
I have a fun idea for March’s “Just For Fun” photos and I hope I can make this idea happen! We shall see! Stay tuned to see if it happens! Happy Wednesday!
