I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Will and I have now been married for TEN YEARS!!!!! Crazy! Not crazy that we made it this far, but crazy how quickly time has flown. It feels like we’re celebrating just 5 years. This makes me feel old! Haha!
We kind of looked at our recent trip to Maui as a 10th anniversary trip of sorts. For the past 9 years, I’ve dreamed of doing a 10th anniversary vow renewal in Hawaii. And while we didn’t do a vow renewal, we did have a lovely trip with all kinds of incredible memories AND we did a photoshoot to celebrate being married 10 years!
We scheduled this shoot for sunrise on our first full day on the island. I highly recommend that others do the same if they’re planning on doing a photoshoot on the trip! We got to start our first day early (which wasn’t hard because we went to bed early the night before anyways because of the time difference), and it’s kind of nice getting the photoshoot out of the way early in your trip so that you don’t have to worry about sunburn or anything like that ruining your photos later on. Plus, the lighting at sunrise is so soft and lovely! I couldn’t be happier with the morning we had!
I’m excited to share those photos with you guys today! I’m also going to write a little more and share some other fun things at the end of this blog, so I hope you’ll stick around to read!
In ten years time, we have experienced so much together. We’ve traveled to places I wasn’t sure I would ever have the opportunity to visit. We’ve purchased 2 homes together. We’ve adopted 3 dogs (we currently only have 2 dogs though). We’ve done house projects to make our homes really feel like home to us. We’ve made lifelong friendships that feel more like family to us. Since getting married, we’ve both started and grown our own successful businesses.
We’ve also experienced our fair share of challenges and heartbreak. We’ve been there for each other when things weren’t going according to our plan. We’ve grown closer to Jesus and to each other through it all. We’ve learned together. We’ve stretched together.
We’ve grown so much as individuals. We’ve supported each other and encouraged each other not to give up when giving up would’ve been the easier, more “logical” route. We’re still the same people who said I Do 10 years ago, but we’re also very different now. Will is still the same Will that I fell in love with and married in 2009, but he’s also a completely different man who I’ve only continued to love and respect even more 10 years later. I think Will would say the same about me :)
I can’t wait to see what year 10 has in store for us! I truly do think it’s going to be our best year yet for a couple of reasons…
First, we have a little secret we’ve been keeping!
We bought some land!!! For years, we’ve dreamt of one day owning some acreage and building our dream home out in the country. And back in January, that dream started to become a reality! I’ll definitely share more of the story behind it in the future (because I’m convinced it was a God thing), but for now the basic details are: it’s 7 acres out in a mini farm neighborhood in New Market and we couldn’t love it more! :)
The land and planning our future home has been a big focus of 2019 thus far. But that isn’t all we’ve been planning and focusing on this year…
Surprise!!! :-D We’re pretty excited, to say the least! What a year 2019 has already been… and we’re going to finish it off in the best way I could’ve ever hoped for :)
Obviously, there is is SO MUCH to tell you guys, but for the sake of time, I’ll share more of our story on a future blog. For now, we’re going to enjoy FINALLY getting this little surprise out in the open. I’ll give ya’ll more info/updates soon!
If you’re interested in following our journey with the new land, building our future home (hopefully next year), pregnancy, and beyond, I have a new Instagram account just for land/house and baby updates! You can follow at @BuildingTheLindseys :)
