Alex & Christina || Destination Wedding at Barnsley Resort

October 23, 2020

I’m still on a high from Alex and Christina’s stunning destination wedding weekend at Barnsley Resort in Georgia! It was my last wedding of 2020 — as well as my last wedding for a little while (more on that later) — and it was the perfect wedding to go out with!

First, let’s talk about the weather (because you know how much I love good weather). We had quintessential October weather: sunny and 75 degrees with a soft breeze. It was everything we were all hoping and praying for. The leaves were just starting to turn, giving us some beautiful Fall colors to work with. The venue, Barnsley Resort in Adairsville, Georgia, is my new favorite place. I had never heard of it before Alex and Christina booked me for their wedding, but I am a huge fan now that I’ve stayed there for a weekend. I will definitely be taking Will and Hope back to Barnsley for a weekend getaway!

The florals and details of this wedding were out of this world gorgeous. My jaw dropped when I walked into the ceremony space and I swooned over the tall floral centerpieces at the reception. I loved the extra little details like the “The Maxwells” sign on the placecard wall to celebrate the new couple, and Alex and Christina’s signature drinks: an old fashioned and a paloma, which just so happen to be mine and Will’s signature drinks! I knew I liked this couple ;-)

So many things stood out to me about this wedding. I loved that Christina did a First Look with not only Alex, and not only her dad, but also her younger brother too. I know that their relationship is really special, so it was a joy to photograph those 3 First Looks. I loved the choreographed father daughter dance at the reception! I loved that the dance floor was completely full all night long. I think I can speak for all of Alex and Christina’s guests that this wedding was so much fun from beginning to end!

Another thing that really stood out to me about this wedding were the vows and Alex and Christina’s notes to each other before the day began. Never in my life have I witnessed such beautiful, poetic words in the form of vows/letters. I told them that they should teach vow writing courses to other couples. I had to wipe away actual tears from my face after listening. Beautiful beautiful beautiful. What an honor to witness such love between two people.

When I first got that email from Alex over a year and a half ago asking if I would be available to photograph his proposal to Christina, I didn’t realize just how special the next year and a half of getting to know Alex and Christina would be. How much I would enjoy documenting such special moments in their lives. How their wedding would be my grand finale wedding after a crazy year. It has been an honor and a joy. Truly.

Alex and Christina, I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to capture your lives from your proposal to your engagement to your wedding day. Every time I’ve gotten to spend time with you, I’ve left feeling happy and excited. This past weekend was no exception. I feel such joy for you and this new marriage adventure you’re beginning! I’m excited to share this little sneak peek of some of my favorite moments from your wedding day! :)

Once again, a special thank you to my second shooter, Aislinn, from AisPortraits! Always a pleasure working with you, friend!
